Charlotte Tilbury - Matte Revolution Lipstick Review

Many of you might know I'm a BIG lover of matte lipsticks. So much so I would probably sell a kidney to extend my collection. So when I heard that Charlotte Tilbury was bringing a 'matte revoloution' I had to go and see what all the fuss was about.

Enriched with new-generation 3D glowing pigments for lips that look lit-from-within and an optical ‘matte-trick’ to create the appearance of wider, fuller lips.”-Charlotte Tilbury

I picked up two of my favourite colours - a bright red (Red Carpet Red) and a deep purple berry (Glastonberry). Initially the colours are lovely, deep pigmented barrels of lipstick homed in their pretty little art deco cases.

From left to right:
Glastonberry - one coat
Gastonberry - maximum cover
Red Carpet Red - one coat

From the swatches you can probably see that the single coat is a little streaky, this is definitely a little bit of a problem but can be overcome by precise brush work and layering. I love the deep red of Red Carpet Red and Glastonberry is a purple I can only dream of, but I honestly have to say they do disappoint me a little bit. As for the last-ability I left these sitting on my arm for 10 minutes and then did the dread swipe, revealing this:

I think I'll have red arms forever. Maybe I've been spoilt by YSL's the mats, but these guys don't last half as long as I would like them to!

'Revolutionary, square, angled tip mimics the shape of a lip brush for precision application.'

As for the nib, you're promised revolution, but I found it awkward, it somewhat over enhanced my cupid's bow and you work around the geometric shape instead of it sitting naturally with the lips. I hope after a few wears that it will wear down to my lip shape and slick on comfortably without a brush!

So here's the quick run down:
Last: 5/10
Smell: 9/10 (chocolatey!)
Packaging: 8/10 (The designs good, the lid feels a little cheap)
Texture: 7/10 (Great layered up, but not insta-beautiful lips in a coat)
Price: 5/10 (£23)
Colour range: 9/10 (10 colours for all skin tones!)
Pigment: 9/10

I'd love to know what you think!
