I love plum, wine and dark berry lipsticks. In fact it was only when I swatched mine against each other that I realised how much I love them!
This started as a guide to my purple lips, but I ended up filling the page (just because).
One of the immediate things I have noticed is that YSL 205, Mac Hang-up and Revlon's black cherry are almost exact dupes for each other. It's quite incredible! Mind you, Revlon has 10000000th of a percent of the staying power of YSL, and smells kinda funny, but for a berry lip on a budget it's amazing.
You can see off the bat that the colours are soooo similar. The most visible difference is the matte texture of YSL (far right).
Now the skin swatches do them all justice too! Again YSL is slightly more pigmented, but I would actually say Revlon's black cherry is also slightly higher than mac!
As for the smell test:
YSL 205: Smells like perfume, roses, floral, very pretty.
Mac Hang-up: Smells like vanilla, sweet and soft.
Revlon Black Cherry: Smells like...nothing?
Another one to put into the mix is also Tom Ford's Bruised plum (smells like: chocolate!):
Now you've got a dark berry lipstick for every budget, here are the links if you're interested in seeing more of them:
